Carlos Alcaraz delivered a commanding performance in the Wimbledon Championships final on Sunday, defeating Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) in a rematch of last year’s final. With this victory, Alcaraz claimed his fourth Grand Slam title, adding to his two Wimbledon titles and one US Open trophy. The Spanish player also holds a French Open title.
Alcaraz’s win denied Djokovic his 25th Grand Slam title, which would have allowed him to surpass Margaret Court’s record. Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, was aiming to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight men’s singles titles. Alcaraz’s triumph made him the sixth man in history to achieve consecutive French Open and Wimbledon victories.
