Celebrations of Indian Independence Day in Ireland; celebrations in various cities

Dublin: A variety of events will be held across Ireland today (Tuesday) to commemorate India’s Independence Day.

The main event was organised at the Embassy of India on Merrion Road near St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin.

The national flag will be hoisted at 10 a.m. today. Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra will hoist the tricolour flag and then read the President’s message. In this regard, art and cultural programmes have also been planned.

Embassy officials informed that all Indians are welcome to the ceremony.

Independence Day celebrations are organised across Ireland under the auspices of various organisations.

Independence Day celebrations in Sligo this morning, Mayor as chief guest.

Sligo: The Indian Association of Sligo will host Independence Day celebrations in Sligo on the morning of August 15.

Mayor Declan Bree will be the special guest at the event, which will take place at Sligo Rovers Football Club. Former Minister Frank Feighan and Chairman of Sligo Rovers Tommy Higgins will also be present.

The president of the association, Dr. Vimala Sharma, will hoist the flag, and along with this, the association has prepared various artistic programmes to evoke patriotism.
