Children are under no obligation to meet their grandparents: Italian Supreme Court

Rome: Italy’s Supreme Court rules that children should not be forced to visit their grandparents against their will.

The Italian Supreme Court has ruled that a grandchild cannot be forced to see their grandparents if they do not want to.

Cassation warned that “unwilling relations cannot be imposed,” especially if they are “discernment” children or have reached the age of 12.

The court issued the landmark decision after the parents of the two children, who were forced to visit their grandparents, filed an appeal.
