COVID-19: Nine deaths and 525 new cases confirmed yesterday in Ireland

DUBLIN: The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) reports that 525 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed yesterday in Ireland.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 229,831.

The Health Department has stated that nine new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported in the country. The death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 4,585.

Of the cases confirmed yesterday,

● 255 are men and 265 are women

● 68% are under 45 years of age

● The median age is 34

● 266 of the new cases are in Dublin, 33 in Meath, 29 in Wexford, 25 in Offaly, 24 in Donegal, and the remaining 148 cases are spread across 19 other counties.

As of yesterday morning, 328 COVID-19 patients were hospitalised, with 83 in ICU.

As of 17 March, 639,586 doses of the vaccine were administered in Ireland. Of these, 468,328 people received their first dose and 171,258 received their second dose.
