COVID-19 vaccination: National portal for general public to launch on April 19

DUBLIN: The national portal for COVID-19 vaccination registration is currently being developed and will be live in two weeks.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has announced that the web portal for 65-69 year olds to register will be available from April 19. The Taoiseach said that all of them will be vaccinated at vaccination centres.

Mr. Martin said that four million COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in the country by the end of June. He added that 930,000 doses will arrive in Ireland this month, with 1.2 million expected in May and 1.7 million in June.

Responding to the controversy, the Taoiseach said that all the negatives related to vaccination should be viewed as positive. He mentioned that there was a lot of negativity about the vaccine roll-out, but that people on the ground were really positive about the process.

The HSE has confirmed that those who register can receive their jobs from that week. People who register will receive a text confirming which center they can go to for vaccination, HSE Chief Paul Reid said. He also said that there would be some public communications prior to the portal’s launch to clarify how the system will operate.
