Decision letters granted by Ireland’s NMBI may be extended, Justice Minister says

Dublin: There is growing demand for an extension of decision letters granted by the NMBI to applicants who have received nursing training outside Ireland. Hundreds of candidates from India applied to the NMBI and received a decision letter. A Letter of Disposition is normally valid for 12 months after it is issued.

However, many applicants have been unable to use the decision letters because they have been unable to travel to Ireland due to the delay in issuing the necessary work permit to work in Ireland.

There has been a demand to extend the validity of the decision letters of such people. In the context of the COVID epidemic, there is a demand to extend the validity of the decision letters.

Despite receiving the decision letter, hundreds of people, including Indians, are unable to reach Ireland due to the work crisis. The extension will benefit all of them.

Action immediately

The Minister of Justice announced yesterday in Parliament that additional streamlining measures have been initiated to reduce the processing time of AWS applications by upgrading the system and hiring more staff. Minister Helen McEntee stated that there has been a significant increase in the number of applications for health workers, that many applications have indicated that additional documentation is required, and that once corrected and submitted, Minister Helen McEntee will issue the removal work permit as soon as possible. It is also in this situation that people working in various sectors of society have requested the NMBI to extend the decision letter.
