Dublin Bus drivers will refuse to operate services to west Tallaght beginning at 6 p.m

Tallaght: There is no shortage of anti-social behaviour in the Tallaght region. Following an increase in anti-social behaviour on some routes to West Tallaght, management was forced to reduce bus services. When the disturbance is severe in the evening, the services are reduced. By 6 p.m., bus routes 27, 77A, and 65B will operate up to Tallaght Square.

There were 35 incidents of violence against buses in December alone. The female bus driver was also attacked. Discussions were held in an attempt to resolve the issue, but to no avail.

The Dublin Bus Management stated that running the service to the estates in Western Tallaght is a threat to life. As a result, service on routes 27, 65B, and 77A will be suspended at 6 p.m. This will be the position until further notice, according to management.

The National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) and SIPTU have written to Dublin Bus Management, citing difficulties in running the service on this route.

The Tallaght Forum, made up of political party representatives, public activists, trade unions, Dublin Bus, Go Ahead, and the Garda, is meeting next week. The issue is expected to be discussed at the meeting.
