Dublin Faces Ongoing Red Alert as Storm Debi Persists: “Updates on Schools, Transportation, and Flight Disruptions”

Dublin: As Storm Debi maintains its threat, a red alert remains in effect until 9 a.m. in eight counties of Ireland, including Dublin, Kildare, Portlaoise, Louth, Meath, Wicklow, Offaly, and Westmeath. Simultaneously, the red warning for Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, East Galway, and South Roscommon has been extended until 7 a.m. Despite the storm passing through these regions, potential disruptions to road traffic persist.

In response to the adverse weather conditions, Luas has announced the suspension of tram services on the Red and Green lines before 10 a.m. this morning. Following 10 a.m., a phased return to the normal morning timetable is anticipated, with live updates available on the official Luas website. Dublin Bus has also cancelled its morning service.

The Education Department has issued instructions for schools, crèches, and educational institutions to delay opening until after 10 o’clock. Subsequently, schools may operate in accordance with guidelines provided by local school management. Authorities are urged to keep students and parents informed of any updates.

While Cyclone Debi progresses northeastward, wind impacts may persist in the Drogheda, Dublin, and Wicklow areas beyond the red alert period. However, heavy rain is expected to be concentrated in Ulster during the morning.

A temperature range of 10 to 13 degrees is forecasted, and Dublin Airport cautions passengers about potential disruptions to early morning flights due to the red wind warning. Passengers seeking updates on specific flights are advised to contact their respective airlines directly.
