Dublin’s mayor signs a twinning agreement with Kyiv

Dublin: Dublin Mayor Caroline Conroy has signed a twinning agreement with Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. The agreement was signed by the Mayor and First Deputy Head of Kyiv City State, Mykola Povoroznyk, during their visit to the Kyiv Investment Forum in Brussels in 2022.

On March 7, this year, the Dublin City Council passed an urgent resolution expressing Dublin’s solidarity with Kyiv. The two capital cities came to an agreement based on this.

As part of the agreement, Dublin will fully support the government’s charitable activities for Kyiv refugees. The agreement also guarantees cooperation in various fields such as economics, culture, tourism, and development.

The agreement promotes peaceful coexistence and the European values of democracy, freedom, and human rights. The agreement was made under Section 75 of the Local Government Act 2001 as a vested function of local government.
