Electric Ireland’s New Year discount, €50 credit for all customers

DUBLIN: Electric Ireland is a relief to consumers in the face of rising energy prices. In anticipation of rising costs, the company has announced a 50-euro credit for customers.

Pat Fenlon, executive director of Electric Ireland, announced that all residential electricity customers will receive a €50 credit in the new year. The company’s hardship fund will be increased from €2 million to €5 million. Fenlon said the company is committed to helping customers in financial difficulty.

Electric Ireland increased electricity rates twice in August and October last year, increasing electricity rates by 26.7 percent and gas prices by 37.5 percent.
