Expansion of Dart Services to be Announced Soon, Says Transport Minister

Dublin: Minister for Transport Eamonn Ryan has announced that details regarding the renewal and expansion of Dart services will be revealed soon. Currently serving only the coastal areas of Dublin city, the Dart (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) system is set to expand its reach nationwide.

The government plans to extend Dart services to major cities, including Cork, Limerick, Waterford, and Galway, marking a significant milestone as Dart celebrates 40 years of operation. The expansion project comprises five main components:

1. Electrification of lines to Maynooth, Drogheda, and Hazelhatch/Celbridge
2. Purchase of new Dart trains
3. Upgrading the existing South Dart line from Bray to Greystones

These enhancements aim to improve connectivity and provide more efficient rail services across Ireland.
