Garda seized the robber, who has snatched money from 18 ATMs

Dublin: A 34 – year – old Romanian man has been arrested for stealing money from 18 ATMs in two days.

It was last January, he robbed 18 ATMs in Dublin. The series of thefts took place between January 8 and 10.

ATMs were also damaged as money was lost from customers’ accounts.

He was arrested during a National Economic Crime Bureau (GNCB) detective’s investigation into cyber-frauds in Ireland targeting international criminal organisations.

A garda spokesman said: “The investigation into transaction reversal frauds was reported by a financial institution on the 13th January 2020.”

He is being held at the Store Street Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

GNCB is working with UK Police and Europol to crack down on cyber criminals.
