Heavy rain will continue today; yellow alert nationwide; orange alert for four counties

DUBLIN: Met Éireann warns of heavy rains across Ireland today.

Status Orange rain alert has been issued for Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford from 7pm last night. It will last until 9 tonight. Met Iran had warned of 50 to 80mm of rain in these areas.

In the view of heavy rains since last night, the yellow rain alert from 9 pm yesterday in other parts of the country will last until 9 pm today.

Yellow wind alert has also been declared in Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo counties. Met Éireann warns of strong winds of 90 to 110 km/h.

The Road Safety Authority has asked motorists to be extra vigilant.
