If Irish citizenship is denied, an application can be made to a Single Person Committee

Complaints regarding the denial of Irish citizenship will now be considered by a Single Person Committee. The Single Person Committee of Inquiry was formed to review the reasons for the denial of Irish citizenship. This is in the context of national security concerns. Retired Judge John Hedigan will serve as a member of the new Single Person Committee.

The committee will consider reviews of refusal to issue a naturalisation certificate. The committee will be considering the decisions that took place after September 30, 2020.
