Manu Bhaker, a 22-year-old shooter, clinched the bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, making history as the first Indian to win a medal at this year’s Games and the first female Indian shooter to secure an Olympic medal.
Bhaker demonstrated remarkable skill and composure, maintaining a top-three position throughout the competition. She was in second place before the final shot, but ultimately finished third, securing the bronze. This achievement opens India’s medal tally at the Paris Olympics, with the country aiming to surpass its previous record of seven medals from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
