Ireland Among EU Leaders in Tech Employment, Eurostat Finds

Dublin: Eurostat’s latest data reveals over 10 million people across the EU are employed as ICT (information and communication technology) specialists, accounting for 5% of total employment in 2024—up from 4.8% in 2023 and 3.4% in 2014.

Ireland ranks sixth in the EU, with more than 6% of its workforce in ICT roles. Sweden (8.6%), Luxembourg (8%), and Finland (7.8%) lead the bloc, while Italy, Romania, and Greece record the lowest tech employment rates.

The report highlights a gender gap, with women comprising just 19.5% of ICT specialists EU-wide. Ireland fares better, ranking fifth, with 24.4% of its tech workforce being female—above the EU average.
