Ireland: Around 30 schools closed; Donegal and Mayo Frozen in Snowfall

Letterkenny: Snowfall and cold temperatures have made life difficult in many Irish counties. Due to the snowfall, approximately 30 schools in Sligo, Donegal, Mayo, and Cork counties have been closed. Since yesterday, there has been heavy snowfall in several areas.

The Met Office has forecasted cold weather across the country until Thursday. The temperature will rise after Thursday, and there will be widespread rain. The Met Office reported that Mount Dillon in Roscommon had a temperature of -7 degrees Celsius, while Ballyhaise in Cavan had a temperature of -6.2 degrees Celsius.

Snowstorms have created “dangerous” conditions on many roads across the country.

Several districts are currently under weather warnings. Counties Donegal, Leitrim, and Sligo are under a yellow snow warning until 9 a.m. today.

Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Meath, Offaly, Tipperary, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, and Louth have also received snow warnings.

Weather warnings have been issued for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry in Northern Ireland until midday.
