Ireland looking forward to see the ECMWF center in Dublin

The Irish people loves to keep them updated with the weather forecast. They simply love to talk and discuss about it. It is because of this that Ireland is planning to bid to get the European Center for Weather Forecasting to be relocated to Dublin. It is now located in the UK.

The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), will shift from its present location to a European Member state due to the Brexit.

The Government’s plan was approved by the cabinet and if successful, the center will be located in a new facility in Cherrywood, Dublin.

It is expected that the new relocation of the Weather forecast center will result in 250 job opportunities also.

Others have time to submit their options till October 1, and the result will be announced in the month od December.

As per the reports, nine other Member States are also participating in the competition. The centre is both a research institute and a 24/7 operational service, producing weather predictions for European countries.

The weather forecasting system of the center is totally on another level, the center is equipped with all kinds of modern facilities, including one of the largest supercomputer facilities. The weather is analyzed and predicted using advanced computer modeling techniques.

The center is also capable and specialized in in global weather forecasting about 2 weeks ahead of time.

The ECMWF is an independent intergovernmental organization that runs with the support of 34 member states.

Government authorities are confident that Ireland will be fruitful in the competition, stating that it would align with the Irish Government’s Global Ireland strategy to increase the country’s “pull factor” for the creation of new green economy jobs.
