Natasha Beresford, 26, Makes History as First Makeup-Free Miss London 2023

Natasha Beresford, 26, has made history by winning the world’s first makeup-free beauty pageant, securing the title of Miss London 2023 in the Miss England contest. Competing against 18 other women, Natasha emerged as the victor. In previous years, contestants were required to submit unfiltered, unedited photos of themselves without cosmetics as part of the competition. However, in this groundbreaking edition, even the use of lip gloss was prohibited. The primary aim of this unique concept was to empower women, enhance self-confidence, and promote the acceptance of natural beauty, according to the organisers.

For the competition, Natasha donned an elegant white lace dress by Shikoba Bride. Her next step will be to compete in the Miss England final, scheduled for later this year.

Natasha, who began her career as a dental nurse at the Royal London Dental Hospital in 2021, earned the affectionate nickname “a real-life tooth fairy” for her work in providing dental care to children. She expressed her delight at being chosen as Miss London, stating, “All the girls who competed are so beautiful and truly inspirational, so it was an honour to be chosen.” Natasha also shared her aspiration to use her title to inspire young women and girls to feel confident and beautiful in their natural skin without the need for makeup.

The competition’s judging criteria included a focus on the contestants’ occupations and studies, as well as their natural beauty and ethical values, as stated on the competition’s website.

The runners-up included 23-year-old engineering student Afrose Ameen and 26-year-old accounts assistant and model Temi Adeyemi.

In addition to winning the Miss London title, 17-year-old beauty therapy student Atlanta Richards received recognition for her charitable efforts by winning the Beauty with a Purpose fundraiser. She raised over $2,000 for a suicide prevention charity.

It’s worth noting that in the previous year, Melisa Raouf made history by becoming Miss England 2022, marking the first time in the competition’s 94-year history that a contestant went entirely makeup-free in the semi-finals.
