No more worries of forgetting to buy household items or groceries; Tesco will deliver those to your home by using drones

Dublin: Tesco will now deliver the required groceries and other items to your home by using drones. No worries from now on if you forget to buy groceries or forget to pick them up at the supermarket.

Tesco offers a fast delivery system that enables delivery within a radius of two kilometers, in just three minutes or less.

Tesco’s experiment is part of the company’s innovative approach to delivering services to more customers. Grocery home deliveries by drone will begin next month.

Chief executive Dave Lewis said the pilot program will take place in Ireland, where project partner Manna is licensed to operate.

Lewis said Tesco had four innovative priority areas: food distribution & beverage products, technology; data; robotics and automation; and packaging.

Food retailers around the world are rapidly expanding their pick-up and delivery services to cope with the Covid-19 crisis. The US company Amazon has also tested the drone.

Earlier this year, Manna drones were used for takeaways, including a trial run with Supermacs in the Barack Obama Plaza in Moneygall.

Claire Lorains, Innovation Director of Supermarket Group, said the order will be delivered within half an hour to an hour.
