Putin Issues Stark Warning to Europe as Kremlin Accuses EU of Undermining Peace Efforts; Zelensky Receives Warm Welcome in Ireland

Kremlin: Russian President Vladimir Putin has escalated tensions with Europe, declaring that Russia is prepared for conflict if Europe “wants war”. His remarks came shortly before a scheduled meeting in the Kremlin with U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, who is seeking to advance negotiations to end the ongoing European conflict.

Putin accused European leaders of deliberately presenting peace proposals that they know Moscow cannot accept, alleging an attempt to disrupt Washington’s diplomatic efforts.

“They want to continue the war. That is why such proposals are being made. They know perfectly well that Russia will not accept them, yet they put them forward to sabotage peace,” Putin said, adding that Russia does not seek war with Europe. However, he warned that if Europe initiates hostilities, “there will be no one left to negotiate reconciliation.”

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha responded by saying Putin’s comments clearly demonstrate that he is not prepared to pursue a genuine peace settlement.

Putin reiterated his long-standing assertion that Europe would face defeat if it engaged in a military confrontation with Russia, further heightening geopolitical tensions.

Ireland Welcomes President Zelensky for Key Diplomatic Visit

Irish leaders hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Dublin on a one-day official visit marked by strong expressions of solidarity and expanding bilateral cooperation.

Zelensky praised Ireland’s steadfast support for Ukraine throughout the war and announced new agreements aimed at strengthening economic and technical cooperation. He held high-level discussions with Taoiseach Micheál Martin and the President of Ireland.

In an address to the Irish Parliament, Zelensky stressed that sustained international support remains vital to safeguarding peace and security in Europe.

He also expressed gratitude for Ireland’s ongoing assistance to the tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees who have settled in the country since the war began. The two governments issued a joint statement committing to deeper investment ties and enhanced technological collaboration for post-war reconstruction.

The visit is widely regarded as an important milestone in the evolving partnership between Ireland and Ukraine, marking a new phase in diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian cooperation.
