Rahul Dravid Joins European T20 Premier League as Co-Owner of Dublin Franchise

Dublin: Indian cricket legend Rahul Dravid has made a major entry into European franchise cricket by becoming one of the owners of the Ireland-based “Dublin Guardians” team in the upcoming European T20 Premier League.

Dravid’s arrival is being viewed as one of the most significant developments for the tournament, which is scheduled to begin in September. The former Indian captain and World Cup-winning coach acquired the Dublin franchise as part of a prominent Indian consortium.

Widely respected for his achievements as both a player and coach in the Indian Premier League, Dravid is now set to play a key role in expanding the profile of cricket across Europe.

The new league will feature six franchises representing Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

Speaking at the official announcement of the Dublin Guardians ownership, Dravid expressed confidence in the future of European cricket.

“This league can strengthen the foundations of cricket in Ireland and across Europe while creating opportunities for emerging talent,” he said.

“There is a passionate cricket community in Dublin, and this competition can play an important role in developing the next generation of players,” he added.

Brian MacNeice described the development as “a historic milestone for Irish cricket.”

The tournament has also attracted several major names from the international cricket and entertainment industries. Other franchises are expected to feature well-known global cricket personalities, while Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan is among those associated with the league’s founding group.

The European T20 Premier League is being seen as a significant opportunity for emerging cricket talent across Europe to compete alongside some of the sport’s biggest names and gain valuable international exposure.
