Republic Day celebrations of India are being held in virtual mode in Ireland this time

DUBLIN: India’s 72nd Republic Day celebrations are being held virtually in Ireland this time as the nation is currently under a Level 5 lockdown.

Ceremonies from the Indian Embassy in Dublin will be broadcast live on the Embassy’s Facebook page from 10 am today.

The national flag will be hoisted at 10 am and then the Republic Day message of President Ram Nath Kovind will be read. The first phase program will be held till 10.20 am.

The second segment of the program, which includes speeches and cultural events, will be available online from 11.30 am to 12.45 pm

Dublin Mayor Hazel Chu, former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, Minister Eamon Ryan and Minister Frank Fegan will attend the ceremony online and give their greetings.

A number of events will be presented, including ‘My Journey as a Health Care Worker’ prepared by health professionals.
