Restrictions in Ireland will be further eased from today

DUBLIN: Ireland is gradually exiting from COVID-19 restrictions and leading a new normal life. From today, most of the restrictions will be lifted. Religious ceremonies, weddings and live events will return from today. Further restrictions will be lifted on September 20, including a phased return to the workplace.

It is expected that almost all COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted in the country within the next two months. The plans were announced by Taoiseach last week.

The government is giving the vaccinated people the opportunity to enjoy social life to the fullest. However, in some cases the number of people participating has been restricted. The government believes that if the current light restrictions are followed, we will be able to get our normal lives back in the future.

Let’s take a look at the major changes taking place from today

Live music and dancing will be permitted at wedding receptions, but the number of guests will remain unchanged at 100.

Organised indoor events and mass gatherings will return. A venue’s capacity can reach 60%, but only under certain conditions. Everyone must have been fully vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19 within the previous six months. Children under the age of 18 are permitted to attend if accompanied by a vaccinated adult. If non-vaccinated people attend such events, the rules will remain the same as they are now in September.

The audience for indoor live music, drama, live entertainment, or sporting events should be fully seated. The easing of the capacity limit does not apply to large, privately organised social events.

Cinemas and theatres

Cinemas and theatres will also have a 60% capacity limit. In the case of children, those who accompany them must be immune. If admission is allowed for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people, there will be no change to the current limits (of 50 people) in September.

All religious ceremonies are allowed with 50% of venue capacity. Attendees can be both vaccinated and unvaccinated.

Up to 75% of the venue can be used for organised outdoor events and mass gatherings. But there is a condition that all attendees must be vaccinated.

Coach tours will be allowed with 50% capacity to strengthen the tourism industry.

The government will also lift restrictions on outdoor door group activities on September 20. Group activities, such as sports, arts, culture, and dance classes, can take place with a maximum capacity of 100 people if appropriate precautions are taken.

But all participants must be either fully vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19 within previous six months. Minors under the age of 18 are also permitted if accompanied by immunised parents/guardians.
