RR scored High and CSK fell short of 16 runs

Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings by 16 runs in the fourth match of IPL 2020.

Rajasthan Royals bated first and registered the highest score of the 13 edition of IPL. With the loss of seven wickets RR were able to score 216 runs on the board, on the other hand Chennai Super Kings were only able to score 200 for the loss of six.

RR reached a commanding position with the fabulous batting by their wicket keeper batsman Sanju Samson. Sanju scored 74 of 32 deliveries with one four and nine sixes. Captain Smith also joined the party by scoring 69 of 47 ball with four boundaries and four maximums. RR scored 30 runs of the last over bowled by Lungi Ngidi, which made them reach the score of 216.

In a high scoring game CSK weren’t able to get a good start. Both their openers Shane Watson (33) and Murali Vijay (21) were only able to score single initially. Faf du Plessis scored 72 of 37 balls with one boundary and seven sixes, but his innings was not enough to take Chennai over the winning score.

CSK captain MS Dhoni marked his first runs after a long year of gap and scored 29 of 17 balls, which includes three massive sixes in the last over.

Poor bowling performance from the CSK side has cost the match for them. “With 217 on the board, we needed a very good start which was not the case. Steve and Samson batted very well. Need to give credit to their bowlers,” said Dhoni in the post match presentation.

Sanju Samson was awarded as the Man of the Match. “My game plan is stand and deliver. If it’s in the arc I go for it, and it’s very important to keep the intent to hit the ball if it’s there to be hit. I’ve been working hard on my fitness, diet and training, and on my strength, because my game relies a lot on power hitting,” he said while receiving the award.
