Social Housing: Private Companies in the Construction Sector
Dublin: The private sector contributed 73 percent of newly built social housing units delivered in Ireland last year, as per figures.
According to figures obtained from the Department of Housing, while the government allocated funds to deliver 7,433 social homes by 2022, the vast majority were undertaken and completed by private sector entrepreneurs.
Private sector involvement has increased in forward-purchasing arrangements for local authorities and social housing developers.
