Suspended DAA Chief Kenny Jacobs Files High Court Action Seeking Reinstatement

Dublin: Suspended Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) chief executive Kenny Jacobs has initiated High Court proceedings against the organisation, alleging improper treatment of staff and fundamental unfairness in his suspension. The court has accepted the petition and adjourned the matter to Monday for hearing.

Jacobs is seeking to have a legal notice served on the DAA, demanding that his suspension be lifted and that he be reinstated. He further claims that DAA chair Basil Geoghegan actively sought his removal from office.

In his petition, Jacobs rejects allegations of sexism, misogyny, racism, homophobia and ageism made against him, describing them as unfounded. He also disputes accusations that his actions contributed to employees experiencing suicidal ideation, calling the claims false and unjustified. In addition, Jacobs denies interfering in procurement processes within the state-owned company.

He states that the suspension and subsequent fallout have caused significant distress to him, his wife and family, and alleges that the conduct of certain board members has subjected him to physical and mental harassment. According to his affidavit, medical advice suggests that resuming work and refocusing on corporate responsibilities would support his recovery from the health issues he is currently experiencing.

Jacobs argues that the damage to his professional reputation is severe and ongoing, asserting that the decision to investigate and suspend him has inflicted irreparable harm on his career credibility and standing. He says he would return to his role immediately if permitted, noting that he has already been cleared of two principal allegations during the inquiry led by senior counsel Mark Connaughton.
