The number of rejections of Irish citizenship applications is on the rise; to be verified by the Rt. Committee chaired by Judge
Dublin: To inquire into applications to deny Irish citizenship on national security grounds, the Rt. Judge John Hedigan was appointed to the single-member committee. When such problems arise, this commission will have the authority to investigate naturalisation applications and deny citizenship. The Committee shall have the authority to consider the significance of the refusal to issue a certificate of naturalisation.
The Committee may advise the Minister on the granting of citizenship after an assessment taking into account natural justice, national security interests, and intelligence advice.
This association has not been established as an appeal mechanism for citizenship decisions. The committee will examine naturalisation applications that the minister is considering rejecting in whole or in part due to national security issues. The purpose of the committee is to review the reasons and information for rejection in detail and advise the minister to make a decision.
