Washington: Facebook and Twitter imposed restrictions on President Trump as the US presidential election neared its photo-finish.
Restrictions are placed as part of the verification of the authenticity of the posts.
At the bottom of every post on Trump’s page, Facebook has given fact check flags. This means, Trump’s messages and posts are subject to fact check.
Meanwhile, Twitter has hidden up to four tweets that Trump has posted since the vote count began. This can only be read after the Twitter flag says there’s an error with the fact.
Trump has made several posts claiming victory since yesterday. The authenticity of these is being evaluated by the social media giants.
Earlier, there were lot of issues between Twitter and Trump over flagging Trump’s tweets. At one point, it has even turned into bringing an executive order for social media regulation. In addition to all this, on Election Day, posts were flagged in a way that questioned the authenticity of Trump’s posts.
