Virat Kohli’s Unbeaten Century Propels India to Fourth Consecutive Cricket World Cup Victory

In a thrilling encounter at Pune on Thursday, India secured their fourth consecutive win at the Cricket World Cup with a convincing seven-wicket triumph over Bangladesh. Chasing a target of 257, India achieved their victory by reaching 261-3 in just 42 overs, with Kohli sealing the win by smashing six-off spinner Nasum Ahmed as he reached his century.

India launched their chase strongly, with Rohit and Shubman adopting an aggressive approach, putting significant pressure on the Bangladeshi bowlers. Virat Kohli, a consistent performer, notched up another half-century. Bangladesh had won the toss and chose to bat in the ongoing ODI World Cup clash against India on October 19.

Despite a slow start, Bangladesh’s opening pair gradually accelerated, reaching the 100-run mark in 17.2 overs. However, the tide turned as Indian bowlers, led by Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, started taking crucial wickets.

Tanzid Hasan (51), Litton Das (66), Mushfiqur Rahim (38), and Mahmudullah (46) were pivotal contributors to Bangladesh’s total of 256/8 in their allotted 50 overs. In response, Indian bowlers, including Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah, picked up two wickets each, while Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav claimed one each.

This encounter is particularly riveting due to the recent history between the two cricketing nations. Although India has a historically dominant record with 31 victories out of 40 ODI face-offs, Bangladesh’s improving form cannot be ignored. They have emerged victorious in three of their last four encounters against India, challenging the conventional perception of upsets.
