Vitalograph Expands Workforce with 60 New Positions in Limerick and Clare to Meet Growing Global Demand for Medical Devices

A little over a year after unveiling plans for a substantial 200-job expansion and a €10 million investment, medical device company Vitalograph is once again in the spotlight with an announcement of 60 additional positions in Limerick and Clare. The roles will be distributed between the company’s Ennis, Co. Clare headquarters, and its Limerick city site, responding to heightened global demand for its respiratory diagnostic products.

Vitalograph specialises in the design and manufacture of medical devices crucial for clinicians in detecting, diagnosing, and managing respiratory conditions like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cystic fibrosis. The company collaborates with pharmaceutical entities, leveraging its clinical trial services for researching therapies related to respiratory conditions.

This recent recruitment initiative marks the second hiring surge in as many years for Vitalograph. In 2022, the company had announced plans to create 200 positions at its Ennis base and Limerick city. This strategic move was part of a broader €10 million investment spanning its existing Ennis facility and new locations in Limerick and Clare. While Ennis serves as the hub for engineering, research and development, and manufacturing, the Limerick site, established last year on Cecil Street, has been contributing to the company’s operations.

Upon the successful placement of these new roles, Vitalograph’s global workforce will reach 500, with 350 based in Ireland. Ambrose Downey, Chief People Officer at Vitalograph, emphasised Ireland’s esteemed position in the medtech sector and highlighted the company’s commitment to meeting the escalating global demand for respiratory diagnostic tools and clinical trial services. He described the recruitment drive as a strategic move, emphasising its alignment with the company’s goal to address major healthcare challenges worldwide. The majority of the new positions, comprising 50 out of the 60, will focus on data processing to enhance Vitalograph’s clinical trial support services. These roles include entry-level positions, with additional opportunities available in areas such as senior software development engineering, process engineering, and manufacturing technology.
