Will an Indian come to lead Dublin City? Here is Feljin Jose, paving the way for sustainable development

Dublin: Will an Indian come to lead Dublin City? Is it possible for an Indian to lead the city of George Bernard Shaw, James Joyce, and Oscar Wilde? Wonder is not only one of the pleasantries but also an expression of astonishment caused by unusual or unique objects or unexpected events.

The Green Party, well-rooted in urban Ireland, could not help but be surprised when 26-year-old Feljin Jose, a Kothamangalam (Kerala) native, was elected to Dublin City Council. The Green Party has given Feljin the Cabra Glasnevin Electoral Ward, which could be considered the Green Party’s only chance of victory, barring any unexpected coups. This electoral ward includes the Indian immigrant-heavy neighbourhoods of Phibsborough, Drumcondra, Ashtown……

Feljin, who arrived in Ireland with his parents when he was nine years old, is a model of democracy and social activism for Dublin’s new generation of immigrants. Feljin, who began studying political science at St. Vincent’s School in Glasnevin, has moved into active politics after graduating in astrophysics from DCU and is now pursuing a PhD in renewable hydrogen production at DCU.

An uncompromising approach to ideas was the reason for Feljin’s invitation to the Green Party, which has followed his lifelong vigilance for environmental protection. Feljin Jose says he joined the Greens because they understand that there is very little time to build a climate-resilient city.

The Dublin Commuter Coalition, a movement founded by Feljin, has made an astonishing contribution to the capital city’s sustainable transport sector in such a short period of time. Feljin is the group’s chairperson, with thousands of supporters and hundreds of active members. The group has developed, commissioned, and implemented a number of ideas to improve and promote Dublin’s public transport sector over the last four years. Campaigns for a sustainable, competitive, and vibrant city were invigorating the city itself.

Feljin and his team have officially started campaigning for next year’s elections. Even during his studies, Feljin does not give up the hope of getting the support of all the diverse people in the constituency when he comes with the message of national reconstruction.

Feljin Jose is the son of Kochurani, a staff nurse at Mater Public Hospital, and Jose Pineapplellil from Kothamangalam Oonunkal, who lives in Finglas.
