Heavy Rain Triggers Flood Warnings for Five Irish Counties as Unsettled Weather Continues

Dublin: The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for five Irish counties amid heavy rainfall, with difficult driving conditions expected in parts of the country.

Rain that began in several areas, including Dublin, last evening continued into this morning. As the rain moves southwards, Dublin and other southern areas are expected to experience cloudy, damp conditions, followed by brighter spells interspersed with showers.

Strong westerly winds are also forecast, while daytime temperatures are expected to range between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius. Strong winds affected much of Dublin throughout the night.

The weather warnings highlight the risk of difficult driving conditions due to heavy rain, particularly in western and north-western parts of the country, where further intense rainfall is expected.

A yellow weather warning was in place for County Donegal until 4am today. Separate warnings also covered Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo, with the alerts highlighting the possibility of heavy rainfall.

Unsettled weather expected over the coming days

The Met Office has forecast changeable weather conditions over the next few days, with a mixture of rain and brighter spells. Night-time temperatures could fall to as low as 4 degrees Celsius in some areas.

Conditions are expected to improve by Monday, when temperatures could climb to 19 degrees Celsius, bringing a warmer spell after several days of unsettled weather.
