Indian market opens up huge export potential for Irish firms

DUBLIN: The Indian market is opening up huge export opportunities for Irish firms. New data published by Enterprise Ireland has revealed that exports to India by Ireland’s client companies reached €127 million in 2021. The recent India-Ireland Business Seminar in Dublin ensures this momentum.

The Indian government’s €17.7 billion Digital India initiative, which aims to transform India into a digitally empowered society, offers a significant potential for Irish businesses. It provides opportunities for Irish firms, including IT services, fintech, data analytics, mobile and wireless services, business process management and IT consulting. The Indian government is investing $7.5 billion for smart city initiatives in 100 cities.

This points to clear opportunities for Irish firms with expertise in Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, engineering, cleantech as well as energy infrastructure and management.

Official estimates are that there are about 50,000 people of Indian origin in Ireland. Enterprise Ireland organizes a number of events for those interested to participate in Irish-India business ventures. It has also been pointed out that communication in the English language gives Irish firms greater access to India.
