An Garda Síochána Launches Latest Recruitment Drive in Partnership with Public Appointments Service, Accepting Applications…
The latest Garda recruitment competition is now open until February 8, managed by the Public Appointments Service on behalf of An Garda Síochána. Interested candidates can apply on www.publicjobs.ie.
Notably, the age limit to apply for Garda trainee positions has been increased from 35 to 50, expanding the pool of potential applicants. The move aims to address the government’s target of 15,000 Gardaí, with Commissioner Drew Harris emphasising the need to further increase numbers due to population growth and evolving crime dynamics.
An annual recruitment campaign is planned to maintain a steady influx of Garda trainees. Commissioner Harris highlighted the rewarding but challenging nature of the job, emphasising the positive impact on communities and the opportunity for diverse career growth. The promotional campaign, titled ‘It’s A Job Worth Doing,’ will launch across various media channels to encourage applications from a wide range of backgrounds and communities, including those residing abroad. In 2023, 746 individuals commenced Garda training, with 388 Gardaí attested, and the next attestation is scheduled for April 2024.
