Approval Granted to Recruit Over 2,000 Health Workers to Ireland..

DUBLIN: Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has announced that the HSE has received authorisation to recruit over 2,000 additional health workers in Ireland. This urgent recruitment drive aims to fill more than 2,200 positions this year.

The budget for this year allows for the hiring of an additional 2,969 staff members, with 2,268 positions coming directly from the Health Department and 701 from the Child Welfare-Integration-Disability Department.

Minister Donnelly provided this information in response to David Stanton TD in Parliament. He explained that plans are underway to recruit these 2,269 additional employees, enabling the HSE to set recruitment targets for each sector in 2024.

“Decisions at the local level regarding the filling of available posts, including the recruitment of new staff, the transfer of staff within the health service, and the appointment of those returning to work after career breaks, will be implemented immediately after the lifting of the recruitment freeze,” stated Donnelly.

The head of the Health Department also recently indicated that an official announcement regarding the end of the recruitment freeze would be made soon.
