Benjamin Besra, former Counsellor at Indian Embassy in Ireland, passed away

DUBLIN: Benjamin Besra, 60, first secretary and Counsellor at the Indian Embassy in Ireland, died yesterday.

Mr. Benjamin Besra, who served at the Embassy of India, Dublin, from 2014 to 2018, was one of those who contributed to giving the Indian Embassy a ‘popular face’. Mr. Besra was a rare personality who sought to resolve all grievances during his service.

He was also a silent leader in bringing order to the old Indian Embassy on Leeson Street, which was in mess.

The first India Day celebrations in Ireland were launched under the leadership of Benjamin Besra, a native of Jharkhand.

The Indian Embassy staff and Ambassador Sandeep Kumar expressed their condolences on the death of Benjamin Besra, who had maintained contact with Indians in Ireland even after retiring.
