Children aged 12 and older can get vaccinated at walk-in centres this weekend

DUBLIN: Children aged 12 and older who have not yet received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, as well as those who require a second dose, can receive it at walk-in COVID-19 vaccination centres opening across the country this weekend.

Children aged 12 to 15 will require the consent of a parent or legal guardian to receive a vaccine. The HSE website has a helpful decision guide and information about vaccinating children, as well as a complete list of clinics that will be open in the coming days.

The director of the national vaccination programme said that with schools returning soon after the summer break, they want to ensure that people have the best possible access to vaccination for their children.

“This is an important next step in Ireland’s vaccination rollout, where Ireland’s younger population can get their COVID-19 vaccination in a trusted and safe environment,” Damien McCallion said.

People can receive a second dose regardless of where they received their first dose or whether they received it from a GP, pharmacy, or in another country. People will be given a second dose of the same vaccine they received previously.

People who want to get their second dose of Pfizer vaccine must have received their first dose at least 21 days prior, and those who want to receive their second dose of Moderna vaccine must have received their first dose at least 28 days prior.

There is no need to register online before visiting one of these sites, but you must provide your Eircode, mobile phone number, email address, and a photo ID that includes your birth date. People who do not have a PPS number can still be vaccinated if they provide proof of address.
