COVID-19: 10 deaths and 507 new cases confirmed yesterday

DUBLIN: The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) reports that 507 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed yesterday in Ireland.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 229,306.

The Health Department has stated that 10 new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported in the country. Nine of these deaths occurred in March and one remains under investigation.

The median age of those who died was 75 years and the age range was between 45–88 years.. The death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 4,576.

Of the cases confirmed yesterday,

● 249 are men and 255 are women

● 70% are under 45 years of age

● The median age is 33

● 216 of the new cases are in Dublin, 40 in Kildare, 29 in Galway, 24 in Offaly, 18 in Tipperary and the remaining 180 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

As of yesterday morning, 336 COVID-19 patients were hospitalised, with 87 in ICU.

As of 23 March, 632,359 doses of the vaccine were administered in Ireland. Of these, 463,497 people received their first dose and 168,862 received their second dose.
