COVID-19: 10 deaths and 646 new cases confirmed yesterday in Ireland

DUBLIN: The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) reports that 646 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed yesterday in Ireland.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 225,820.

The Health Department has confirmed that 10 more people died as a result of COVID-19. With this, the death toll from Coronavirus now stands at 4,518.

Of the cases notified, 311 were men and 322 were women. 74% were under 45 years of age and the median age was 30 years old.

The highest number of cases were recorded in Dublin (243). Of the remaining cases, 80 in Kildare, 45 in Meath, 35 in Galway, 34 in Offaly and the rest 209 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

As of yesterday morning, 344 COVID-19 patients were hospitalised, with 87 in ICU.

As of 9 March, 553,161 doses of the vaccine were administered in Ireland. Of these, 396,089 people received their first dose and 157,072 received their second dose.
