Covid snatched little Raiden’s parents within a span of four months

Raiden Gonzalez, a four-year-old boy based in San Antonio, Texas has sadly lost both his father and mother within a span of four months.

It was Covid-19 that took away the lives of young Raiden’s parents. Raiden’s father, Adan, a 33-year-old truck driver got the virus from a co-worker and he became seriously ill. He was taken and admitted to the hospital but on June 26 he passed away.

Raiden’s mother, Mariah (29) was a teacher and was extremely sad with her husband’s death. She became ill on October 5 and surrendered to death after some hours. It was later confirmed that she had tested positive for Covid-19.

It was Rozie, Raiden’s grandmother who explained the pain of her grandson. While speaking to US broadcaster NBC she stated that: ‘He misses his mom since he was a mama’s boy. Just this morning he told me that he wishes he had his mom back and he just wanted her back.’

Raiden was celebrating his fifth birthday on November 28 and his family have brought in all the good and favorite things of him to make him happy.

The Gonzalez family hosted dinosaur-themed party featuring all of Raiden’s favourite things. The local fire department and several truck clubs were also invited to participate in a socially-distanced parade.

Rozie is now planning to hold a memorial for little Raiden’s parents. A page named GoFundMe is set up to assist these plans. $40,000 has already been raised, surpassing the original target by $15,000.

Rozie says that Raiden has given her purpose amid her grief, saying: ‘He’s what keeps me going, just with his friendly and constant reminders telling me how much he loves me.

‘He’s always thanking me for taking care of him, but I’ve just got to think about him. It’s a hard situation to process.’
