Enterprise Ireland Surpasses Goals: Record 225,500 Jobs Created Amid Global Expansion Efforts
Dublin: Enterprise Ireland, a pivotal government agency fostering global market presence, has achieved remarkable success, overcoming various challenges to propel Ireland into the international arena. CEO Leo Clancy announced that the agency, encompassing 5,000 clients last year, achieved an unprecedented milestone of 225,500 job gains.
Dedicated to supporting Irish businesses, start-ups, and multinational corporations in establishing and expanding their global footprint, Enterprise Ireland emphasises the role of export-focused companies in creating substantial employment opportunities.
With a robust international network comprising 39 offices and over 150 professionals, Enterprise Ireland continues to assist Irish companies in navigating global markets. Exceeding expectations, 15,530 new jobs were created last year, surpassing the agency’s targets. This year, the focus is on generating two-thirds or more of jobs outside of Dublin, aiming for 68% growth across regional areas.
Key sector divisions, including Food and Sustainability, Industrial and Life Sciences, and Technology and Services, witnessed significant job growth. Food and Sustainability experienced a 3% increase, employing 66,047 individuals, while Industrial and Life Sciences and Technology and Services employed 93,652 and 65,796 people, respectively, with a growth rate of 2% each.
Notable growth areas included a 7% increase in jobs related to climate, sustainability, and agritech, a 5% rise in dairy, beverages, and food FDI, and a 4% growth in life science companies. The high-tech housing and construction sector saw a 3% increase, while the digital technology and fintech sectors maintained a steady 2% growth. The international education and edtech sector recorded a noteworthy 5% job growth.
CEO Leo Clancy affirmed Enterprise Ireland’s commitment to supporting both start-ups and established companies in expanding their sales and exports globally. The agency remains steadfast in providing comprehensive support, including innovation initiatives, to guide Irish firms on their journey to becoming integral players in the global market landscape.
