French Open: Barbora Krejcikova – first player to clinch women’s singles and doubles titles in same year since 2000

Czech Republic’s Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova won the women’s doubles title at the French Open. The Czech pair defeated Iga Swiatek and Bethanie Mattek-Sands 6-4 6-2.

With this, the Czech pair was able to top the doubles rankings. This is the first Grand Slam doubles title for the Krejcikova – Siniakov duo, who have played together since the junior level.

Krejcikova also won the women’s singles title on Saturday. In the singles final, Krejcikova defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.

Krejcikova became the first player since Mary Pierce in 2000 to win both the women’s singles and doubles titles at the French Open. She is also the first woman since Serena Williams in 2016 to win both the singles and doubles competitions at a Grand Slam.

This is Krejcikova’s first Grand Slam title. It has been 40 years since a Czech player won the French Open women’s singles title.
