G7 meeting is being held today to discuss COVID economic challenges; Minister Pascal Donohoe will attend

The first in-person G7 meeting since the start of the pandemic takes place in London today. The meeting will discuss the major economic challenges facing the world during the COVID-19 crisis.

Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe will attend the two-day meeting as President of the Eurogroup (Chairman of the Eurozone Finance Ministers). Minister Donohoe said a coordinated approach was needed to address the major economic challenges.

He added that ministers will consider coordinated approaches to major global challenges including as climate and nature, health finance, and support to low-income nations.

Ministers from the United States, Japan, France, Canada, Germany, and Italy are gathering at Lancaster House in London for a two-day meeting ahead of the leaders’ summit in Cornwall next weekend (June 11-13).
