Gardaí to increase mobile checks on Ireland’s roads, caution urged

Dublin: The Garda plan to increase mobile checking in response to Ireland’s rising road accident death toll. Garda centres have revealed that an additional 4,265 hours of mobile safety camera monitoring will be implemented over the next few months as part of this.

The number of people killed in road accidents this year has risen to 130, with 65% of accidents involving vehicles only and 30% involving excessive speed.

This year, approximately 75% of crashes occurred between the speeds of 80 and 100 kilometres per hour. According to a Garda statement, the primary goal of the additional camera deployment will be to reduce speeding collisions and injuries and, most importantly, save lives.
