Dublin: Good news comes from Ireland in the context of the European economic recession and mass layoffs in multinational companies. According to research conducted among members of the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland, 60% of US companies headquartered in Ireland will significantly increase headcount in the next year. This research report was published by Thanksgiving.
Based on the survey, only 4% of US businesses are downsizing. 35% of businesses said the number of employees would remain unchanged. Currently, there are 900 US companies operating in Ireland. These employ approximately 200,000 people.
The mass layoffs at US companies such as Twitter and Meta have caused widespread concern in the IT industry. Furthermore, the question of whether rising inflation and the energy crisis will have an impact on Ireland was raised. But there is nothing to fear; the survey indicates that everything will go well.
83% of members reported that they had increased the number of employees in the previous year. According to research, 94% of corporate headquarters see Ireland as a top investment and growth location.
Mark Redmond, CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland, said the survey highlights that these companies face challenges such as high energy costs, high inflation rates, and supply chain issues. According to the survey, 98% of those polled believe that foreign direct investment (FDI) in Ireland must ensure the availability of housing in order to maintain employment.
