Heavy rains, thunderstorms and floods have engulfed Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah city

Heavy rains blanketed the Saudi city of Jeddah on Thursday, causing aircraft delays. The city shuttered schools and the way to Mecca, Islam’s holiest city, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Waterlogging has caused traffic snarls in Jeddah, according to images widely posted on social media on Thursday. During heavy rains, standing water has partially submerged numerous vehicles throughout the city. The departure of certain planes from Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport has been delayed owing to weather conditions, according to the airport. As the heavy rains continue, the airport advises travellers to contact airlines for the most up-to-date schedules.
