HSE vaccine portal for people aged 18-34 to open this week

DUBLIN: The Health Service Executive has said that online registration for the AstraZeneca vaccine for people aged 18 to 34 will begin this week.

People in this age group can choose Janssen or AstraZeneca for earlier vaccination or wait to register for an mRNA vaccine.

On July 5, pharmacies across the country began administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to this age cohort. Those who want to receive the JAnessan vaccine (J&J) must make an appointment with a nearby pharmacy.

Minister for Health said 69.8% of adults in Ireland have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 56.6% are fully vaccinated. Minister Donnelly said the vaccination programme is on track and that the HSE expects to administer the five millionth dose this week.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health confirmed 600 new COVID-19 cases in the country today. There are currently 64 people being treated in hospitals, with 16 of them in intensive care units.
