With his beautiful shot of a trio of bald eagles fighting for a spot on a branch in Alaska’s Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, an Indian American software developer turned hobbyist photographer from Silicon Valley has won National Geographic’s first-ever “Picture of the Year” contest.
According to an official statement, Karthik Subramaniam’s “Dance of the Eagles” shot was picked as the grand prize winner after a rigorous screening procedure by a team of seasoned Nat Geo photo editors.
Subramaniam will have his photo included in the May issue of National Geographic magazine, alongside Nat Geo’s finest photographers, and will get a six-month digital subscription to the magazine as a reward for his efforts.
