International Tongue Twister Day – November 13, 2022

Every second Sunday in November is International Tongue Twister Day.

Tongue twisters, popular nonsensical sayings that are ridiculously difficult to say, may appear to be simply alliterative strings of words meant to trip up, well, your tongue, but tongue twisters are not random, which is why the popular ones, such as Peter Piper and the Woodchuck, have been around for a hot minute.

Speaking of the nefarious pickled pepper picker, it turns out that sweet old Peter Piper was a real person, someone from our history who was famous for his taste in delicious spices and became legendary as a result.

So whether you’re trying to master Peter Piper, the woodchuck, or even “The Guinness Book of World Records’” most difficult recorded tongue twister, “The sixth sick sheik’s sixth sheep’s sick,” you’re sure to get your tongue tied.

Well celebrating International Tongue Twister Day is a piece of cake!

  1. Spend the day perfecting your favourite tongue twister and putting it to the test in front of your friends and family.
  2. Put your tongue-twistering abilities to the test in a friendly tongue-twistering competition.
  3. Create your own bizarre tongue twister combo.

Check out the video and try some of these twisty phrases. Wishing you all a happy “tongue twister day”.
